The Superhero Syndrome

It happens to all of us. I want to share this with you so it doesn’t happen to you…too often.
Most people start working out for a reason, to look great either for a photo shoot, wedding, reunion etc. So they work really hard, eat very healthy and of course start getting fast results. The problem is, once they arrive to where they want to be, they get what I call the “Superhero Syndrome”. Suddenly they stop working out as many days, they start eating the same things that got them overweight, they start drinking more on the weekends…and all this because they look great and they feel none of this will affect them anymore, they are superheroes. Does this sound familiar?
Of course, they start gaining weight all over again, their stamina and strength is on the floor and they soon realize they made a huge mistake. How to avoid this?
o Look at health and fitness as a lifestyle
o Don’t be too strict about your diet from day one, slowly get into eating healthy understanding the benefits of the food you eat.
o Don’t jump into those fast track diets.
o Looking great is just one benefit from working out, feeling great it the biggest one, so stay healthy.
o At the end of the week, don’t reward yourself with something unhealthy. You don’t want to see bad food as something positive.
So next time you look and feel great, celebrate but stay on track!
