In a perfect world, everyone would have at least an hour per day to devote to exercise. But in the real world, 24 hours can pass by in a blink of an eye, leaving you wondering where the time went. It may not seem like enough time to fit in all your family, school, or work commitments, but if you can get creative, you can find easy ways to make time. Here are some tips and tricks to help you make time for fitness in your life from Los Angeles personal trainer Lalo Fuentes.



Use Your Commute

All that time you spend in your car on the way to work is prime workout time! If it works for you, then ditch the gridlock in your car and run, walk, or bike to work instead. It can get you to work faster (and less frustratingly) than your normal commute. Take a change of clothes and anything else you might need and get that body moving. It’ll help you feel great and balances out some of the time you spend working all day at a desk.


If you’re not a runner or a biker, then just exit the subway or bus at a stop a bit farther than you normally would and hoof it. If you have no choice but to drive, find a parking spot as far away from the entrance to your building as you can and take the stairs instead of the elevator. “The important thing,” says Lalo Fuentes, CSCS, “is that you get your body moving in a meaningful way each and every day.”


Bring the Kids Along

If you’re a parent, then you know that finding a balance between your needs and theirs can be difficult. Especially if you have young children, finding time to work out can be a challenge. But there is an option recommended by Los Angeles personal trainers that is healthy for everyone – a jogging stroller.


Just because you buy a jogging stroller doesn’t mean you must actually jog, but they are designed to be easy to push over different types of terrain. So, pack the kids up in the stroller, give them a snack, and then get your workout in while you all enjoy a little bit of fresh air and sunshine. It’s a great break for everyone involved.


Go on an Active Date

Everyone should make time to date, even if you’re already in a relationship. It’s a wonderful way to keep you and your relationship fit and strong! The key to sneaking in some fitness is to make it your dates active ones. Los Angeles personal trainer Lalo Fuentes says that doesn’t just mean going to the gym together. You can ride bikes, go to the beach, or even take a hike. If you’re single, try inviting some friends along for a workout instead of hitting the happy hour scene.


Time for fitness can be found, you simply need to make it a priority. Once you do, you may be surprised at all the opportunities to be active that present themselves!
