The success of your fitness career hinges largely on your clients. One way to attract more clients is to create an online presence with a website, but that’s not all you must do. If you want your website to be successful, then you need to know more about web optimization. Web optimization is how you help people find you online, which means more growth for your fitness business and more sales too! Here’s what I have found are some helpful tips to optimize your website.

 

 

It’s All About SEO

The goal of your website is to come up in the search results when someone in your area searches for a personal trainer on Google. The better SEO your website has, the better your chances of showing up in a Google search. It’s just that simple – and that complicated!

 

There are many factors that go into SEO, so taking the time to make aspects of your website SEO-friendly will increase your website traffic. Dropping off the Google radar is never a good thing. The good news is that it only takes a little bit of time to optimize SEO and bring prospective clients to your website – for free!

 

The Right Keywords

SEO is all about keywords. The whole point of using SEO is to appear higher in the Google search rankings, so you have to know what keywords people are searching to help bring them to your site. Optimizing your keywords takes a little time, but it’s easy to find for free online. Find out what keywords are most valuable to your potential clients and use them! Just make sure not to use them too much or it can actually have a negative impact on your web rankings.

 

Tags and Meta Descriptions

In my book, Your Fitness Career, I devote an entire section to SEO and how to use it. One aspect I dive into great detail about is how to fine tune your tags and meta descriptions to drive traffic to your website. It can be a complicated topic, but to sum it up, your tags and meta descriptions are your opportunity to show someone what your page is all about. It’s kind of like your website’s elevator pitch – so it must be effective!

 

Simply ask yourself what your ideal client wants to know more about and give that to them! A good meta description will entice people to click on your website, so make sure it’s well-written and includes keywords – all in about 120 characters!

 

Write with SEO in Mind

When creating content for your website you must keep SEO in mind. Of course, you’re writing for your readers, but you’re also writing to drive more traffic to your website to enhance your fitness career! You want traffic, which is why improving SEO is so important.

 

Try to naturally incorporate your keywords into your writing. Use variations of your keyword to help increase your SEO without stuffing your posts with just one keyword (which ultimately will work against you!).

 

As you learn more about different aspects of your fitness career and how to promote your services, you’ll find that many concepts that are new to you now will become second nature. Just keep moving forward and stay current with the latest information!
