5 Ways to Refresh Your Fitness Routine

It can be easy to get caught in a fitness rut. If you find yourself struggling to meet with your Los Angeles personal trainer, skipping your workouts, or dreading your fitness routine, then it’s time to hit the refresh button. Here are five ways you can switch up your fitness routine to get back on track.

Create a New Playlist

Working out isn’t always comfortable or fun. Music is a great companion for a workout because it helps to distract you from the inevitable discomfort you can experience from an awesome training session. But just like your workout routine, listening to the same songs over and over can get boring. Spend a few minutes each week putting together a new playlist or listen to playlists made by others on your music app to amp up the type of workout you’re doing.

Go Group!

A group fitness class can be a great way to stir things up. They help to refresh your routine with a camaraderie that helps you get excited to workout again. Plus, you’ll learn new moves to add to your routine when you’re not in class.

Your gym may have a few introductory classes you can try. If not, then ask your Los Angeles personal trainer if they offer any group classes or recommend any that may be a good fit for you.

Get Outside

If you’re used to getting your sweat on in the gym, consider moving your workout outside. Find a local hiking trail or park and go for a jog or power walk. You may even be able to find an outdoor exercise class to go to, such as yoga or boot camp. A little fresh air is a great way to take your workout to another level! And if you’re working with your Los Angeles personal trainer, simply ask them if you can take your sweat session out into the sun.

Add a Circuit

Circuit training is a great way to increase your intensity at the gym and add something new to your routine. That’s one of the advantages of sessions with a personal trainer like Lalo Fuentes, CSCS, since they create a personalized plan to help get you off on the right foot. They can create a circuit with three or four exercises to keep your heart rate up and push your muscles to get stronger. Circuits are also great because you can change them up frequently, helping to quash boredom before it starts!

Understand Yourself

“You need to get to the bottom of what’s tanking your motivation if you want to fix it,” says Los Angeles personal trainer Lalo Fuentes, CSCS, “If you’re competitive, then use that to push yourself. If you’re social, structure your workouts so that you’re with a group of like-minded people. “

If you can uncover what might be holding you back, then you can work to fix it. Tap into what makes you unique and create a workout that meets your individual needs – something a personal trainer can help you with!

Don’t let boredom kill your workout! Strive to make your fitness routine interesting and you’ll crush your goals no time!
